Education
Bachelor's degree
The Bachelor's programs for the 1st and 2nd years focus on General English. Classes are held in groups of various levels from A1 to C2. All students select their class day and time via the my.itmo.ru portal.
In the 3rd year of Bachelor's studies, General English continues in groups at A2 and B1.1 levels. In groups at B1.2–C2 levels, the program involves completing a Professional English course ("English for Specific Purposes").
Master's degree
At levels A1–B1.1, students complete the General English course.
Advanced levels from B1.2 to C1 take Scientific Writing in the fall semester and Presentation Skills in the spring semester. The training spans two semesters (1st year).
Postgraduate studies
Graduate students assessed at A2 level study the General English course in the first semester and Academic Writing in the second semester.
For students at B1.1–C2 levels, mandatory “Speaking Club” and “Discussion Forum” sessions are added to the General English course.
In the third semester, all graduate students across levels undergo preparation for the candidate exam, Academic Writing course sessions, and Discussion Forum meetings.

Opportunities
ITMO Speaking Club
For everyone who wants to improve their language skills, the weekly Speaking Club meetings are a great opportunity to join discussions on current topics, make new friends, and spend time with like-minded people!
Testing and certificates
Every ITMO student and employee has the opportunity to take a full English proficiency test and receive the corresponding certificate.
Academic Writing Lab
The laboratory provides consultations, organizes training courses, workshops, and events aimed at improving the quality of English-language research articles, abstracts, presentations, grant applications, resumes, and cover letters.
